Pearl Transit’s Title VI Policy Statement

Pearl Transit grants all citizens equal access to its transportation services. Pearl Transit is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of its services on the basis of race, color or national origin as protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (“Title VI”).

Complaint Process

Persons who believe that they have received discriminatory treatment by Pearl Transit on the basis of race, color or national origin have the right to file a complaint with the EEO Officer. The complaint must be filed no later than 180 calendar days from the alleged discriminatory incident. The preferred method is to file a complaint in writing to: Pearl Transit, P.O. Box 227, Alloway, NJ 08001. Any written statement will be accepted that includes:
(1) the name and contact details of the complainant,
(2) a description of the event(s) that occurred, which the complainant believes are discriminatory,
(3) the complainant’s signature.
In the event that a written statement is received that does not include all the requested information shown above, Pearl Transit will contact the complaintant to obtain more information about the grievance.

Verbal complaints will be accepted and transcribed by the EEO Officer. To make a verbal complaint, call 1-888-976-9944, ext. 9 Complaints may also be filed with an external entity such as the Department of Transportation (DOT), a federal or state agency, or a federal or state court.

Should a complaint be filed with Pearl Transit and an external entity simultaneously, the external complaint shall supersede the Pearl Transit complaint and Pearl Transit’s complaint procedures will be suspended pending the external entity’s findings.
